May 21, 2025 – Compagnie des Signaux (CSEE), a leader in high-speed signaling systems, and its partners SITE S.p.A. and GCF S.p.A., have signed a contract with the Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF) for the supply and installation of the ERTMS Level 2 signaling system and telecommunications for the new Kenitra-Marrakech High-Speed Line.
Kenitra-Marrakech High-Speed Line: The new backbone of national development
Building on the success of the first Tangier-Kenitra high-speed line, and in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, ONCF has launched the high-speed line project between Kenitra and Marrakech. This new line will connect the new intermodal stations of Casablanca and Marrakech, the Moulay Abdellah and Hassan II stadiums, and the airports of Rabat and Casablanca. As a backbone for the country’s economic development, this line must be completed in record time with maximum reliability and safety requirements.
A major contract covering signaling and telecoms
Under the contract, Compagnie des Signaux will supply the electronic interlocking systems, automatic train protection (ATP), and automatic train control (ATC) systems, based on ERTMS 1 & 2 technology, to equip the new 430 km line. SITE S.p.A. will provide the telecommunications network, including cybersecurity, and the power supply system. GCF S.p.A. will carry out the equipment installation. The system will allow safe commercial operation of the new line at 320 km/h.
Mr. Pascault, CEO of Compagnie des Signaux, stated: “We are very proud of the trust placed in CSEE and its partners by ONCF. The project is very ambitious, both technically and in terms of deadlines. Our recent achievements, such as the modernization of the Paris-Lyon High-Speed Line, have demonstrated our ability to meet these challenges. This contract will mobilize more than a hundred engineers and technicians in France, while enabling the development in Morocco of an engineering center specializing in high-speed ERTMS systems. It will promote Moroccan railway expertise internationally.”
